Absolutely daunting that only the toughest can manage! Interspersed with challenging climbs pushing bikers to their limits, technical trails, speeding downhill runs – the ULTRA distance and KitzAlpBike Marathon World Championship Route 2013 has earned its title as the toughest route in Europe. Only the physically fittest and technically knowledgeable bikers can even consider the challenge for the outright victory.

The route description in brief:

Start at the festival grounds at the Fleckalmbahn gondola station in Kirchberg in Tirol – collected it goes through the center of Kirchberg and on the bike path to Brixen im Thale - under the railway underpass, then immediately left ascent in the direction of the Kandleralm – Choralpe via Talkaseralm to Brixenbach’s forest road – turn right to the Wiegalm – descent via the Single-Trail to Rettenbach – cycle path in the direction of Skirast.

WARNING – the route divides here for the 1st time. MEDIUM participants continue straight ahead. MEDIUM PLUS, EXTREME and ULTRA participants turn right here to the Skirast and follow the street to Aschau.

WARNING! The 2nd route division: MEDIUM PLUS participants turns right in direction Oberer Grund - Klooalm.
EXTREME and ULTRA participants follow the track uphill in direction Unterer Grund to the Schaukäserei Kasplatzl. Turn left to Schöntalalm/Hirzeggalm. When you reach the Hirzeggalm, follow the trail down to direction Oberer Grund/Klooalm. Then you follow the Aschauer Höhenweg to the Pengelstein, Jufen and direction Ehrenbachhöhe.

WARNING! The 3rd route division: The EXTREME and MEDIUM PLUS participants follow the Flecklamtrail to Kirchberg to the finish area. The ULTRA participants follows the Hahnenkammtrail and again up, past the Seidlalmsee - Steilhang - Mausefalle - Hocheck to Hahnenkamm mountain-top station. Follow the panorama route to the Bernhard Chapel, then descending to the finish area via the Fleckalm trail.
